What is the Delmarva Power Energize Education Program?
The Delmarva Power Energize Education Program was developed to teach 5th grade students easy ways to use energy more efficiently while increasing the energy savings in their homes. Program content supports Maryland State learning standards so it is easily integrated into your class's existing curriculum.
Who is Delmarva Power?
Delmarva Power, a public utility owned by Exelon Corporation, provides energy to more than half a million electric customers in Delaware and Maryland and more than 100,000 natural gas customers in northern Delaware. For more information, click here.
Is there a cost to participate in the Delmarva Power Energize Education Program?
No. The program is free for you, your child's teacher, and your school district. Franklin Energy develops and implements the Energize Education Program on behalf of Delmarva Power.
What is included in the Delmarva Power Energize Education Program?
The Delmarva Power Energize Education Program comes with a teacher book filled with lesson plans and engaging activities that you can use inside and outside of the classroom. Each student, and teacher, will receive an individual Student Guide, Student Workbook, and an Energize Education School Program Kit. Everyone can learn how to use energy more efficiently at home and this program is designed to help your family do just that. When you discover ways your family can increase your household's efficiency, you will maximize your savings while minimizing your environmental impact.
What does my family need to do?
Your child will receive an Energize Education Kit, which includes products that use the latest efficiency technologies. You and your child can install the kit's products together and complete the homework assignments found in the Student Workbook. When your child returns the completed workbook to their teacher, he or she will receive a certificate of achievement from Delmarva Power!

No, only one kit is available to each student.
How is the information in the student surveys used?
The information your student provides is used to measure the knowledge gained by program participants, gauge the effectiveness of the program activities, gather demographic data, and estimate overall energy savings that is reported to the Maryland Public Service Commission. The information requested in the surveys in no way connects us with your private Delmarva Power account information and CANNOT be used for any other purposes than those described above.

What do I do if an LED lightbulb breaks?
Dispose of a broken LED lightbulb in the same way you would dispose of broken glass. LED lightbulbs do not contain hazardous materials. However, 95 percent of an LED lightbulb is recyclable, so recycling your LED lightbulbs is the best way to dispose of them. Simply call your local government or waste management company to learn the recycling policy in your area.
